Running the Gauntlet, First Night Providence, 1987
Running the Gauntlet was a sound activated piece installed for one night in Burnside Park in downtown Providence, RI as part of First Night Providence.
It was the first piece of public art commissioned by First Night Providence.
The piece consisted of 6 units in two parallel rows, placed 4' apart (width), with an overall length of 24' As members of the public entered the "gauntlet" it would respond to their sounds by changing colors.
Funded though a New England Foundation on the Arts, Artist's Grant.
Very special thanks to Lisa Newby who assisted in the construction & installation of the piece.
